How to create silent but attractive videos for social networks?

You may not have known it, but 85% of videos on Facebook are watched without sound! Here's why silent videos are more relevant than ever.

Most Internet users scroll through their favorite network anywhere: in a public place, on the transport, at work, ... All those places where you don't want to disturb others with the sound of a video! That's why it's important to create silent videos, viewable without having to put sound on. By adding subtitles, the video is then accessible to everyone with or without sound. The user can then choose the way he wants to consume the content.

5 tips for silent videos on social networks

In this article, you will find our 5 tips to create silent videos, that people will love, silently.

Music Icon

#1: Don't rely on music to make your video meaningful

Since the goal here is to make a video that works without sound, the music becomes a secondary element. Even if it can add emotions to your video. Instead, you should focus on your visual!

#2: Show what you mean

The audience will have a better reaction if you show your message through scenes with strong visuals rather than narrate what is happening. And yes, humans do retain images more than words. So for your videos, the challenge is to convey your message with images only, without sound or subtitles.

#3: Use sound intentionally

Optimizing your video to be played silently is good. But you still have to make sure that those who can listen to it have a pleasant audio support!
Yes, in the #1 rule, we told you not to rely too much on music. But a little music and small sound effects can make the video more interesting so that anyone who watches it with sound can enjoy it. The video without sound at all, it can be a disappointment for the viewer.

#4: Don't forget the 3-second rule!

In general, you have 3 seconds to capture your viewer's attention in video marketing. Beyond that, either the person continues to watch your video or they have already forgotten about it by scrolling through their news feed. So the question now is, "How do we make the most of the first 3 seconds?" By presenting powerful images to the viewer right off the bat. This will act as a promise to the reader that the rest of the video is worth watching!

Let's take the example of cooking recipes. Most recipe videos start with a preview of the final result to make the user want to watch how to make that amazing looking dish.

#5: Plan your video production in advance

We don't teach you anything. To shoot a video, you need a minimum of preparation. Especially if the objective is to be readable without sound. You have to plan each step precisely.

Think about the story you want to tell and reduce your message to more visual elements. Then, think also about the language, the format of the video, the subtitles, the short or long sentences,... ABe careful to keep a visual space in the shots so as not to spoil the very visual shots in your video.
